Our laboratory is on the path to a new frontier. We are collaborating efforts with the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation and researcher Dr. Andrew Ainsworth of California State University, Northridge; with a goal to ignite unity, between applied behavior analysis and fire prevention and safety for our youth. In order to promote this relationship, we have developed a behavior measurement tool that will take the trainer step by step on behaviors to teach and behaviors to look for, in order for the learner to become self aware in a state of emergency. In addition to the behavior tool we have also developed knowledge-based questions, which should assist the learner in reinforcing the new behaviors they are applying. Together, with the support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and our collaborators, we look forward to seeing change in the safety of our community.
