I am a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), with a BS in Psychology. While attending UAB, I conducted research with Dr. Sylvie Mrug as a member of her Coping with Violence lab. As a part of her team, I was tasked with researching factors that facilitated maladaptive coping strategies in adolescents. My main focus was the initiation of substance use in early development leading to dependence in adolescence. To expound upon my understanding of substance abuse I also served as an intern to substance abuse counselor Jackie LeShure at Beacon Addiction Treatment Center in Birmingham Al. Currently, I am conducting analyses to examine the efficacy of ABA training, as well as ABA training modules. I hope to eventually explore the benefits of ABA therapies being applied to the treatment of substance abuse and addiction.
