Roles and Responsibilities
K-Lab uses a pyramidal model of mentorship, which means senior students, typically graduate students with research experience, provide supervision and training to incoming and newer research assistants.
To accrue supervised experience hours to sit for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) exam, graduate students in this lab must commit to an off-site clinical internship experience concomitantly to meet the minimum competencies outlined in the CSUN Supervision Folder.
We use a performance evaluations system that provides research assistants with the expectations of their work in lab as well as ongoing feedback on their efforts

- Conduct literature reviews
- Conduct experimental research in controlled settings
- Conduct applied research with community partners
- Use direct observation methods for behavioral measurement
- Organize and input behavioral data
- Graph and interpret the results of single-subject design research
- Record and evaluate procedural fidelity
- Develop tables and summaries of data
- Lead research and training projects and supervise others
- Develop and use performance feedback tools
- Provide and obtain peer review feedback
- Work with the robotics team and program a humanoid robot to simulate client(s)
- Provide Behavioral Skills Training (BST) or other empirically supported trainings
- Present posters and symposia at professional conferences
- Co-author manuscripts to be submitted for publication
- Co-author Research with Human Subjects Protocols
- Critically evaluate research proposals and research results
- Develop and design research projects to extend or enhance current research in the lab
